Adventure: The Getty

The real adventure to this is not the actual Getty but the getting there part. I drove up to LA from Fullerton an hour and a half before I was supposed to go pick up my friend. Usually, I will run into some kind of traffic but I never would have imagined I would be stuck in traffic for more than 3 hours. I'm not kidding, I was in fact stuck in traffic for that long. There had been a terrible accident on the 5 right by the 101 that day. Yes I have started saying "the" in front of freeway numbers...sorry not sorry...but I promise to change that once I'm back in Maryland next week. Anyway, I finally got there super late and my friend and I headed to the Getty in the Malibu area.

So while I was stuck in traffic, I turned off a side street just so I wouldn't have to be stopped for more than 10 mins at a time and I found a bundle of old abandoned buildings that I of course found super interesting.

The Getty is a beautiful place filled with thousands of artifacts and pieces of art that were collected by Mr Getty.  This is just one of the museums that he owned with his prized collection.

The next day we went to the Getty in LA and met up with a friend that went to school with Nick & I's childhood friend from college. It's funny and wonderful how some friendships form, isn't it!?

Book: Harry Potter 4

After Fault in Our Stars, It was time to get back to the Harry Potter Series.

The Goblet of Fire was one of my favorite books, but least favorite movies. I don't know if it's because every time I went to watch Harry Potter weekends on ABC Family, it was the only one on or what.
These newly illustrated books are pretty fantastic with the color choices and the style of illustration, I'm seriously loving every bit of them!

How many times have you re-read the Harry Potter Series!?

Goal: Water Color

It's a long lost art of mine to water color. I actually used to hate water color in college and now I actually prefer it to any other type of paint medium. Why you may ask? I think it's the fact that they only things you need are the paint, water and a brush to make it so simple and I don't have to use any other chemicals to make the paint move or give it a different effect.

I've been really into typography recently so I decided to test out water colors again...and typography.

(Sorry for the poor picture quality, iPhones cameras can be great and terrible at the same time.)

Here are a couple prints that I designed a few nights ago and I'm pretty proud of them!

My goal for this little hobby of mine is to create a few more of these prints and sell them on Etsy in a new shop. I can't wait to show you more of what's to come!!

Have you ever worked with water colors?

Life: Amsterdam

I believe I have grown to love Amsterdam. The city is kind of beautiful, except for certain areas...yikes, but the beautiful areas of Amsterdam definitely out number the bad. I think the number one thing that people think about when they think of Amsterdam, or Holland in general are the tulips. Tulips have always been my all time favorite flower so the fact that this country is kind of known for them, makes it all the more reason to travel and have an adventure there. I've been searching high and low on Pinterest for all things Amsterdam it makes my heart want to travel there even more!

The colorful bikes are another reason to travel to this European country. They come in a variety of bright colors that give the city a happy feeling when walking the streets.

Like I said, the tulips are one of the many reasons why I would love to go.

Have you ever had a passion to travel to Amsterdam?

Goal: Work Out

My goal for this month is to work out as much as I can, when I have time. It's hard when I'm out in the sun for 8+ hours a day, standing and all I want to do when I get home is to take a shower and go to bed. BUT I'm going to make it a point to change my look out on this and tone up and just work on my appearance all together.

I've already started on some work out routines but it's just for my arms and legs, I would like to work on my core and posture. My posture has gone no existent and it makes me super uncomfortable with myself. I blame my many hours in front of the sewing machine and the heavy equipment that I carry at work.

Here are some of the work outs that I do in my room on a normal basis.

I just started with this one and I'm already seeing results. Can I just say how much I love Pinterest? It makes it so easy to search for the perfect exercise routine that I can actually do or work up to.

These leg work outs have my legs killing and aching the next day. I know I stand for 8+ hours a day but this helps stretch them out and tone them a little bit more. The one that I haven't succeeded in yet is the inward box jumps, mostly because my balancing skills are terrible and I have yet to find an object that I can use that won't tip over.

Here is my Pinterest board with some pins that I have collected over the past few months that I hope to work my way up to.
